Athens VBS at Olive Branch Community Church
Olive Branch Community Church is coordinating a fun weeklong Vacation Bible School (VBS) program 6-24 to 6-28, open to children 1st - 6th grades. The cost is $30 for pre-registrants, $35 at the door. At “Athens” VBS, children will learn about ancient Greece and the Apostle Paul’s exciting adventures. Kids will participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, play teamwork-building games, sing catchy songs, and make fun crafts with new friends. An exciting feature at this year’s VBS is the Athenian Marketplace. At the marketplace, children will get to visit different booths and learn about Grecian culture with hands-on activities including scribe writing, geometry, music, toy making and pottery. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes at Celebration—a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved. Downey March For Jesus
The March for Jesus begins on the sidewalks of Firestone Blvd. between Lakewood and Paramount Blvds. Before the March, we will meet on the grassy area across from the church for donuts, coffee, worship and prayer. After the March, we will meet back at the church for praise music, gospel message, fellowship and a free light lunch. Bring signs, banners, crosses and posters celebrating Jesus. Community Invited to Join in British Music Madness
Community chorale Novum Voce is welcoming new singers, both youth and adult, to perform in the Elation Arts' summer concert, British Music Madness. The consortium's rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 7 – 8 p.m., at Emmanuel Church in Thousand Oaks this June and July. New members are invited to join any time in June. In addition, there will be a workshop and a few sectional rehearsals. A full rehearsal schedule is available online at epconline.org. No auditions are required to join the group; however, it is important to have a musical foundation, and sight-reading ability is helpful. ANAHEIM, CA - Anaheim’s seventh annual free Health Fair will take place on Sunday, June 30, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at a new location – Magnolia High School, located at 2450 West Ball Road in Anaheim. Physicians and medical staff will offer free health screenings and exams to ensure optimal health at every age. Doctors, health care professionals and volunteers all donate their time at this free one-day event. A partial list of services to be offered include: Physical exams (vital signs and screenings); heart checks (EKG); cholesterol checks (lipid profile requires 8 hours fasting before the test); diabetes (glucose) and anemia (hemoglobin) tests; bone strength measurement (bone density); women’s services (mammograms: patient qualifications required); eye exams; dental consultations; chiropractic and acupuncture services; voluntary bone marrow donor program sign-ups.

The 2013 OC Walk To Remember Memorial Service, 5K Walk and Celebration of Angels will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at The District at Tustin Legacy. APU Men's Chorale Performs at Emmanuel Church
The Elation Arts series at Emmanuel Church, 588 Camino Manzanas, Thousand Oaks, is proud to present the return of the Azusa Pacific University Men's Chorale on Sunday, January 27, at 6 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Having entertained audiences for more than 40 years, the 100-voice ensemble is comprised of men from all disciplines and majors offered at APU and performs regularly at churches, schools and civic organizations. Come join River 47 Church as they put on "A Night in Bethlehem." A Night in Bethlehem is a free, family-orientated event that recreates the city of Bethlehem on the night that Jesus was born. The Journey to Bethlehem is a walking journey that allows you to experience what it might have been like on the way to Bethlehem at the time of Christ's birth. At the end of this experience, you can linger for an outdoor Christmas concert spotlighting our school musical groups, alumni performances, and some of our community schools. Though this event has been serving the community for a couple years, last year, the Southern California winds destroyed almost everything that served as a prop or decoration. Fortunately, everything that we have on display this year is new or rebuilt. There will be live animals, beautiful decorations, and delicious snacks. We invite all of your family and friends to participate in The Journey To Bethlehem. Admission is FREE. No individual or group reservations are necessary. Challenges of Care Giving ~ The Medication Medley: Too Much, Too Little, Too Confusing?
As part of a quarterly series on the challenges of care giving, Kari Buist-Baker, RN, Gerontologist and Founder of Senior Life Management, will address the topic of medications. Tree-lighting Ceremony The night sky of Thousand Oaks will be brighter on Sunday, December 2, when Emmanuel Church, 588 Camino Manzanas, hosts a traditional tree-lighting ceremony for the community on the front lawn at 4:30 p.m. in an effort to reach out to friends and neighbors to spread the joy of the Christmas season. The church's pastors will give a message, and after the tree is lit refreshments will be served. Church members will be on hand to greet neighbors and welcome them to the ceremony. The event is free, and the church encourages everyone to come and bring their friends to this festive evening to gather around the tree singing carols and sipping hot cider while ushering in this wondrous season. The El Dorado Golden Hawks Band and Colorguard, alumni and Beautiful Mess volunteers are again teaming up to collect gently used or new jackets, sweaters, coats for the homeless who come to Mary's Kitchen in Orange, downtown Santa Ana, Fullerton and families in need of Placentia. All sizes are welcomed. Distribution will be on November 24th. This year's benefit recipients The Reptile Zoo and Forever Wild are dedicated to educating the public and providing homes for exotic pets of all sizes. At the event you can meet the founders of these organizations as well enjoy special exotic animal exhibits including "Zorro" the Black Leopard, "Thelma and Louise" the two-headed snake, a cobra, and more! Enjoy a night of fun for the whole family including games, raffles, and even a costume contest where you could win a lifetime membership to The Reptile Zoo! Fall Fest Hosted by Compass Bible Church
Compass Bible Church’s free, annual Halloween-alternative event, “Fall Fest” is back at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine on Wednesday, October 31st. Thousands of free In-n-Out Burger meals will be served from three In-n-Out food trucks and Chick-Fil-A will be serving up chicken sandwiches. There will also be Kettle corn, cotton candy, hot dogs and other snacks all completely free, while supplies last. More than 50 rides and attractions will be set up with age-appropriate games and rides for children in two separate areas for younger and older children. Fall Fest will take place on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the Verizon Amphitheater parking lot located at 8808 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine. Costumes are welcome, but given the family theme, no scary costumes please.
